What is Ethics then?

Going over class deliberation bringing together the definition of what ethics means, we were able to touch upon different interpretations of what this concept entails. So there are no right or wrong answers. Furthermore, ethics may seem more context sensitive than anything else. In other words, what may somehow affect us, could be considered an ethical issue. Nonetheless, this may be true till certain point since ethics also deals with the subjective being, so what might be good for someone might not be, for someone else.

  1. Every human being has his or her own definition of ethics; each person understands ethics from their own perspective. As individuals we are, each of us lives our own experiences, with which we construct our own concepts in the ethical and moral. Because of the above, the family nucleus has the main role in this case, since it is there, where we learn from children to differentiate what is good and what is bad for our lives, based on the fact that parents want the best for their children and that is why they are the ones who show us the right path for our thinking and our actions towards ourselves, the family and society. On the other hand, if we speak of professional ethics, we go to a slightly more concrete field of ethics in general, assuming that the school provides the bases for professional life and the university continues that training in ethical concepts focused on a fully working environment, thanks to which we develop skills to choose the best way to act in certain situations within our field of work. According to this and having as reference that professional ethics feeds by personal norms and values, then we could also say that: Are there universal values with which we support ourselves to direct our labor field in a positive way in agreement with our work community? What are these universal values that we as professionals should know?

  2. I drew some conclusions from our first meetings which were valuable since we constructed them during the class discussion. I was expecting a fixed definition, but it was not the case. Totally normal when dealing with a quite subjective issue. Thus, there is no a single answer, as you say each individual has his/her own principles that guide him/her. However, that interpersonal perception has to be contextualized, contrasted with a specific environment so I do not impose views on what is my right upon others. Unfortunately, that is what we are experimenting in the country now. Regarding professional ethics, it encompasses many things , and it is as complex as the definition of ethics. From my point of view, our ethical responsibility with our profession is at least be involved in academia, as we are doing, since it allows us not only to be updated, but to challenge and reflect on our work practices !!

  3. I honestly enjoy the theories about Ethics developed by the Doctor William Cerón, a local scholar that conceives Esthetic as part of Ethics on the moods of how a person is a business man of himself in the way of creating subjectivity or new forms of living in the planet earth. It is not only an ideal conception; it is a practical interpretation to take care of yourself (Ethics), of others (politics) of the things (science). “For instance, a person who takes care of himself promotes to create an own identity and values to become more free that we can imagine Without needing an external foundation that imposes how we must think, act and act” (Cerón, W. ,2012, p. 219). Moreover, it is esthetic an inner personal relationship and a positive relationship with others as a project of creativity which leads with personal utopic ideas and conscious of society.

  4. According to some information read and got from internet and some documents provided by the teacher.it can be said that Ethics is a discipline that studies and involves to the human beings from all thier aspects such as: professional, social, economic, family and so on. But, According to USDA(United Square Dancers of America) Ethics is basically defined as rules or standards for governing the relations between people to benefit all concerned, with mutual respect for the needs and wants of all parties involved.
