Teachers,
like parents, should be moral references of students and children. Therefore,
in order to transmit ethical values, it is indispensable that the teacher
already has this knowledge with the firm intention of promoting personal and
moral development in his students. "The professor of today, unlike other
times must become a true tutor of humanity, leaving behind the concept of the
teacher as a transmitter of knowledge." Roberto Sanz y Ana Hirsch (2016). One
of the main objectives in the school is to train whole scholars, that is to
say, human beings who have developed cognitive abilities with which to continue
studies superiors and at the same time qualities that mold their personal, ethical,
social and civic formation, with the purpose of modeling men and women of good
that contribute positively to the society. The teacher in addition to imparting
knowledge must teach to live.
Dear
friends, taking into account your great work as teachers and with your
experience. How can we teach our students to live? And what is to live?
It is a reality what you are exposing. Family is the main reference of values and modeling for an individual. It is the mechanism that allows individuals to base their principles and social norms that facilitate their development in a society. According to Ray Dalio´s Words: "Principles are what allow you to life a life consistent with those values”. Principles connect those values to your actions". For instance, We cannot only to teach our students knowledge, how to live or what is to live. It is important to bring all the ethical background into the classroom in order to establish a reflection of principles and values from home to consider the way of behavior to constantly try to be coherent. I said it as teacher and as a student that I feel every day at my own classroom.

Returnig to my friend Julián is asking, I believe that we can teach with our own example of life and the way as we are living in our society.
I also want to add this point of view of José Ramiro Galeano Londoño who supports this idea: teacher must become an educator both in the institution and outside it. Being an educator is a task that does not end, or rather is not suspended when the working day ends. It is rather an investiture that is carried throughout the time, ideally, it can become an intrinsic part of the human being dedicated to this work. I believe that it is the example through which we must teach.
