PECHAKUCHA

The experience with the oral presentations through PECHAKUCHA was interesting and a little stressful. Although it was the first time I made a presentation like this I felt that it was important to have control of the situation and to be 200% prepared for this purpose. On the other hand I think that presentations like Pechakucha do not allow us to interact with other people and I like to know what others think about what I do or say. Taking into account the feedback or points of view that the person can have of me, allows me to build my professional and personal world. We are likely to have many ideas in common or many against but the debate and the opportunity to share experiences and ways of thinking are absolutely important. This does not mean that I am closed to new experiences or activities. All the methodologies and activities with which I can grow and be better for others and myself will always be welcome.
-          How did you feel about this activity?

-          Do you think that this kind of exercises could be done with our students?

  1. From my standpoint I consider this kind of presentation so useful for our professional and educative practices, since this way helps us to be more assertive at the moment of speaking in public, and it was a great excercise which made me feel like an expert lecturer. Although it was a practical exercise that put us under pressure, I enjoyed it a lot, and I think we can involve our students in using this kind of presentation as well.

  2. Julian, I felt more or less the same... I was kind of worried for the time that I spoke faster than I usually do and at the end the image lasted some seconds to show up jajaja... However I like challenges and it was a nice opportunity to try something new... I think that the suitable moment to have the feedback you mention was at the end of each presentation, but I still do not know why none of us decided to make questions or comments (maybe we were just scared)... I think this is a nice activity we can apply with our students (of course depending on their proficiency level and characteritics)... I will definetly apply it in class...

  3. These kinds of presentations undoubtedly help us to be more effective in presenting our speech or points of view. I consider that at the end of our exhibitions there was a lack of space to solve questions of our audience. by the way It may be something that we can implement with our students, but leaving them clear that after the presentation will open a space to solve questions, if they exist.

  4. In fact, my students will have presentations this week using this format ! They will deal with global issues and at the end we will have a general discussion! Asking questions during the presentation will ruin the idea due to time constrains ! A question: Can you imagine asking a question to Elias during The Pechakucha?? We will need a thousand ones to finish !!
Seriously, I loved the format, it was challenging and useful for future works !!

  5. Something positive in this type of oral presentations is that Elias could not give us some EXAMPLES, He did not have the time to do.. JAJAJAJA...On the other hand dear colleagues, I want to take this space to congratulate each one of you. I think it was a new activity for us, we had difficulties. But in spite of everything, it was evident that each of us prepared the best we could. I had a lot of fun and I enjoyed the other presentations. I could see different problems that each of us have in our work and that was very interesting. Sometimes the nerves play tricks on us, but let's move on. We have a lot of work and time is not enough, I'm sure that at the end of this process we will see our faces very happy. I think all this effort will be worth it.
