What does being ethical mean ?

We have just finished our third subject this semester, we are half way ! My question is: How ethical have we been so far with our academia ??

  1. Dear Hernán, I believe that with our constant training and the acquisition of new knowledge by our own will, to apply in our educational centers, we strengthen our ethics and we are being more responsible with the education that corresponds to us to impart. On the other hand, analyzing the objective of our training program, I think we are on the right track because we are forming as integral professionals and aware of our academic, pedagogical and social responsibility, being critical to implement new practices in the context of learning and teaching the English as a foreign language. 2. Hernán and Edison, in my opinion, we are not always as ethical as we should be. Right and wrong acts are issues that most of people concern about. However, the most important thing is to respect everybody and yourself at any place. Such as: Job, university, home, street and so on.

  4. I am sorry for the double coment

I want to support my coment by this quotation: “Ethics deals, amongst other things, with right and wrong, ought
and ought not, good and evil” (Mahony, 2009, p. 983). Cosidering this information, humans present a complex really where dilemas are around and decisions become a labyrinth with no way out.

  5. I guess I have been ethical during my academic life.. as human beings we make mistakes, but the more we live, study and experience with world (academic or not) the better we perform as teachers... we mostly concern about doing things "right", because we are seen as heroes for our students... So it is our duty to be better and better everyday... In fact, Isn´t it part of human beings life?

  6. Yes, Normis.I agree. Improving yourself every single day is part of an ethical life. However, it is an utopical idea being better person buecause there are many perspectives of "better". What do you think?

    1. Yes Angie, you are right!!! the word "better" is relative... what it may be good for me, it may not be for others...
